Presentation Softwares & Tools

Prezi is a nice change from traditional presentation softwares such as Google Slides and Microsoft Powerpoint.  With a variety of templates to choose from, students are able to incorporate a mindmap and theme into their presentations.  Students find the layout of different Prezi templates more attractive than the traditional presentation softwares.

Giphy and GIFs

My classes have recently been experimenting with using GIFs in our presentations.  There's a wide variety of GIFS available through Google.  There's also a fantastic website: Giphy.   Giphy has a lot of choices that are easy to search and download.  Regardless of where students are locating GIFs, the results are that presentations are more interesting, attractive to the student audience, and look more professional.  I think my class will continue experimenting with the use of GIFs embedded in our presentations.

Slides Carnival

Slides Carnival is a repository of free powerpoint and Google Slides templates.  There are many different categories to choose from: formal, inspirational, creative, simple, startup, elegant, playful, and business presentation layouts.  Each Powerpoint template or Google Slide theme has multiple different slide layouts which allows the author to customize the layouts for their particular presentation topic.  The themes and templates are much more diverse than those offered in the Google Slides or Powerpoint programs.  The user simply downloads the template of their choiceA definite must see!

Hyperlinks in Google Slides

Hyperlinking slides in Google Slides was a wonderful way for students to display their understanding of their culminating community project.  This technique has a lot of different applications though.  It could be used in a choose-your-own-adventure scenario or could simply give students choice in a presentation format.
